Rehabilitation of Interceptor Sewer in South Street, Manhattan

This $28.9 million project including the rehabilitation of interceptor sewer in South Street, between Fulton Street and Dover Street. A trenchless pipe lining method was used inside a 8' x 6' interceptor sewer with steel reinforced SPR liner without the interruption of flow.

Work Completed Includes:

- Daily traffic shifts to re-direct motorists away from the Entry and Exit manholes, where the above-surface work will take place
- Development of fluming plan and subsequent by-passing measures to divert and re-circulate water to neighboring sewer appurtenances, allowing for a partial reduction in flow, sufficient for the mechanical lining equipment to operate
- Installation of Spiral Wound Pipe lining in live flow conditions, using pipe traversing machinery

-- Sound attenuation strategies to maintain nighttime quality of life standards for residents, while combating the sound-deflecting challenges presented by the overhead presence of the FDR Drive overpass
